{stella & dot} pick of the week

Stella Dot - Signature Clover Chandelier Earrings - Silver

This week, my Stella & Dot pick of the week is the Signature Clover Chandelier Earrings in Silver.  I'm drooling over these earrings because they're simple enough to wear with just about everything I own, but still make somewhat of a statement since they're on the long side.  Plus the hammered detail on each clover adds a special touch.  I'm thinking these may be my next purchase!

Here's a long lost photo from last August...I guess it's pretty clear why I must not have jumped at the chance to post it.  Not super flattering.  I had really forgotten about this outfit, but since I took the picture, I thought hey, why not post it?

I think I had a lot of meetings when I wore this outfit.  I needed to be professional, but I wanted to make the look a little less boring, so I added the hot pink tie-front top for a burst of color and a little girliness.  I somehow ended up wearing a lot of pieces from The Limited all together at once.  Not my most favorite outfit ever, but they can't all be favorites, right?

{stella & dot} pick of the week

Stella Dot - Camilla Ring
{source}

Hey guys!  I'm going to start a new feature here on Third Floor Closet.  Each week (probably on Mondays from now on) I'll be showcasing a jewelry pick of the week from Stella & Dot in addition to outfit posts!

This week, I've chosen the lovely Camilla ring.  This ring is seasonless and timeless, and it would be so easy to mix in with outfits and other jewelry.  It would look great now mixed with brown or other earthy hues and fantastic with a flowy white top or sundress in the summer.  I.  Want.  :)

style for a steal

Ok, ok, I promised that I wouldn't turn this into a 24/7 Stella & Dot blog, and I intend to keep that promise.  But, I just wanted to share this great deal that I just saw on the S&D Facebook page!

This weekend, get a Bloom Flower Ring FREE with any purchase of at least $99!  Just add the color of your choice to your cart, and the discount is automatic.  That's incentive enough for me.  :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

still here

Hey guys!  Just wanted to let you know that I haven't disappeared....instead, I'm the victim of a dead camera battery that I keep forgetting to charge (which I guess means I'm not actually a victim...).  I'm going to charge it up tonight, so look for a new outfit post soon!

Only one day standing between us and a (hopefully) long weekend!

stella & dot

Stella & Dot Logo Blue Border

Hello, friends!  I have some exciting news today.  (Well, at least I think it's exciting...)

I am now a Stella & Dot stylist!  I've always loved Stella & Dot jewelry, but I never knew anyone who sold it.  So, I'm taking matters into my own hands (and now I'll get a discount!).  The jewelry really is extremely versatile and just plain pretty.  If you want to see for yourself, you can shop my website at http://www.stelladot.com/thirdfloorcloset or shop the main website with my name (Jeanna Adcock) or my stylist id (#119428).  You will always be able to find the link to my Stella & Dot site on the top of the right sidebar of TFC.

I just ordered the six pieces pictured below, and I will be very anxiously waiting by the mailbox until they arrive!

{FBFF} color wars

Hello, my dears!  This week's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday questions are all about color--how much color we wear, how we incorporate it into outfits, and how we mix it with other colors.  And this week, I even have an outfit post to accompany them!  Without further ado...

2.8.2011 1

1. What color dominates your closet?

Hmm...I'm really not sure if I have a tremendous leaning towards any one color.  I have a lot of black, gray, creams, and neutrals in general but I also have a good amount of pink and green.

It's time for another Everybody Everywear post!  This time, we're wearing a closet staple--the classic blazer.  Of course, I wear blazers all the time, so this should have been easy for me.  (If you're new around here, I work in a very conservative office--think business formal most of the time.)  So, I decided to try to wear some things that I don't normally put together, because, let's face it, the only blazer I want to wear this winter is my grey wool one

{FBFF} blogging events

Hello friends!  I'm kind of excited about the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday questions this week, as they cover a topic that's been on my mind lately.  We're talking about creating a unique blog and how to participate in the blogging community without coming across as a follower riding on the coattails of other bloggers' success.

1. With all the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid?

To be honest, I really haven't done that many blogging events.  I did the first 30 for 30 Remix Challenge last summer, and I participated in Everybody, Everywear last week.  The biggest factor I consider when making a decision about a blogging event is whether or not participating would cause me to wear something out of character.  In short, if I would need to wear an outfit that doesn't fit in with my day or week or if I would need wear an outfit totally opposite of my style, I skip it.  The amount of time that I have each week definitely also goes into consideration.  For instance, I did really enjoy doing the 30 for 30, but doing it each time just doesn't make sense for me, especially since I remix my whole closet all the time!

2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out?
Nope, don't think so.  Like I said above, I haven't actually done that many events!

3. How do you give your own flair to a blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose?
As cheesy as it sounds, I try to stay true to myself.  I only do events that fit with my style and my blog.  I think each blogger does each event differently simply because our personal styles are so varied.  Another way to be unique and still participate in a blogging event is to put a spin on it.  For example, last week I styled both a work and casual look around the same breton striped turtleneck instead of doing just one look.
