Hello friends! I'm kind of excited about the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday questions this week, as they cover a topic that's been on my mind lately. We're talking about creating a unique blog and how to participate in the blogging community without coming across as a follower riding on the coattails of other bloggers' success.
1. With all the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid?
To be honest, I really haven't done that many blogging events. I did the first
30 for 30 Remix Challenge last summer, and I participated in
Everybody, Everywear last week. The biggest factor I consider when making a decision about a blogging event is whether or not participating would cause me to wear something out of character. In short, if I would need to wear an outfit that doesn't fit in with my day or week or if I would need wear an outfit totally opposite of my style, I skip it. The amount of time that I have each week definitely also goes into consideration. For instance, I did really enjoy doing the 30 for 30, but doing it each time just doesn't make sense for me, especially since I remix my whole closet all the time!
2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out?
Nope, don't think so. Like I said above, I haven't actually done that many events!
3. How do you give your own flair to a blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose?
As cheesy as it sounds, I try to stay true to myself. I only do events that fit with my style and my blog. I think each blogger does each event differently simply because our personal styles are so varied. Another way to be unique and still participate in a blogging event is to put a spin on it. For example, last week I styled both a work and casual look around the same breton striped turtleneck instead of doing just one look.
